Advantages of stainless steel cable ties

• Thanks to their temperature resistance and and corrosion resistance, cable ties made of stainless steel are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
• Stainless steel cable ties are UV-resistant and unaffected by weather conditions.
• The cable strap of metal cable ties is very flexible and therefore particularly suitable for areas that are difficult to access or where space is limited.
• Stainless steel cable ties are fire-resistant and temperature-resistant from –60 °C up to extreme temperatures of 300 °C.
• Despite the thin material, stainless steel cable ties have a high tensile strength and are very sturdy. The tensile force is much higher than that of traditional plastic cable ties.
• The circular shape, when tightened, prevents the pinching of cables and distributes the load evenly over the entire cable tie strap. This means that the cable ties do not adversely cut into the cable bundles.
• The ball lock fastens the cable tie securely and permanently.

How a self-locking ball lock works

When open, the small ball that is integrated into the locking head of the steel cable tie can move freely. When in use, the tie end is inserted and fed through. When the zip tie is tightened, the small ball springs back and wedges itself inside the cable tie head, thereby securely locking the stainless steel cable tie. The self-locking ball lock is sometimes called a 'ball bearing lock'.

Do you need special tools to fasten stainless steel cable ties?

You can fasten and tighten stainless steel cable ties by hand. However, if you need to install a large number of them, we recommend using a cable tie gun. For cable ties made of stainless steel, you need a special gun designed for stainless steel. In our assortment, you will find a steel cable tie gun for stainless steel cable ties with widths of 4.5–7.9 mm. An integrated cutting function allows you to cut off any excess strap in the same step.

Are stainless steel cable ties stronger than plastic cable ties?

Yes, stainless steel cable ties are stronger than plastic ones. Stainless steel cable ties offer high mechanical strength, resulting in very high tensile strength and stability. Unlike plastic cable ties, metal cable ties are therefore also suitable for installation in extreme environments, such as those found in industrial or construction sectors.

How long do stainless steel cable ties last when used outdoors?⁣

Cable ties made of V2A stainless steel are suitable for long-term outdoor use. V2A stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and impervious to UV radiation, meaning the material does not become brittle or lose its strength. This makes these cable ties a low-maintenance fastening solution. You can use these stainless steel cable ties in demanding environments without any issues.
